Welcome to the North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Course

This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to responsibly carry a concealed firearm in the state of North Carolina. Whether you are a first-time firearm owner or an experienced shooter, this course will equip you with the legal and practical information necessary to carry a handgun safely and effectively.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, you will:

• Understand the legal requirements for obtaining a North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Permit (CCHP).

• Gain a thorough understanding of North Carolina laws regarding the use of deadly force, including self-defense and the defense of others.

• Learn about prohibited locations for carrying concealed firearms and the importance of situational awareness.

• Review firearm safety rules, including safe handling, storage, and transportation of handguns.

• Practice basic marksmanship and shooting fundamentals to ensure proficiency and confidence with your firearm.

1. Legal Framework

   • State and federal laws on concealed carry.

   • Reciprocity agreements with other states.

   • Situations requiring notification of law enforcement.

2. Use of Deadly Force

   • Justifiable use of force and the Castle Doctrine.

   • Understanding the legal and ethical consequences of using deadly force.

3. Concealed Carry Basics

   • Selecting the right firearm for concealed carry.

   • Holsters, clothing, and concealment techniques.

   • Tips for carrying in various environments and situations.

4. Firearm Safety and Marksmanship

   • The four universal rules of firearm safety.

   • Proper grip, stance, and trigger control.

   • Live-fire exercises on the range.

Course Requirements

Participants must meet the following criteria to successfully complete the course:

• Attend all classroom sessions.

• Pass a written test on North Carolina firearm laws.

• Demonstrate safe firearm handling and accuracy during the live-fire qualification.
